Employing a Victorian Bricklaying Apprentice
ABBTF Brickstart Subsidy:
ABBTF is the only trade body in Australia providing financial support to its industry members. The Brickstart Subsidy provides up to $3,000 in wage support over three years for bricklayers and builders directly employing bricklaying apprentices – with $1,000 paid on the satisfactory completion of each of the first three years of the apprenticeship.
ABBTF Support for a Female Apprentice Bricklayer (FAB)
FAB support is available as an initial incentive for the employment of Female Apprentice Bricklayers, at $2,000 payable on the completion of the first year of a woman’s bricklaying apprenticeship. This employer incentive is claimable backdated to July 1, 2015, for the employment of female apprentices from that date.
ABBTF Support for Adult Apprentice Bricklayers (SAAB):
***NOTICE*** – Due to an overwhelming response from bricklayers to assist mature age candidates (21+) to gain an apprenticeship, ABBTF has filled its quota of the extra fund that was available for a limited time only for new sign ups between 1/1/15 – 30/6/15 and registered with ABBTF by 30/6/15.
Thank you to all who took up the offer and we look forward to assisting you in the future.
Federal Government Subsidy:
A $4,000 grant is available over the life of the Apprenticeship together with other specific benefits. These are included in the ABBTF brochure below and further details are available at the Australian Apprenticeships website.
Group Training Organisation Hosting:
Bricklayers and builders wishing to employ a new apprentice through a Group Training Organisation (GTO) should enquire in relation to SAAB funding arrangements with the GTO. View Victorian GTO locations.
Further details on all subsidies are set out in the following brochure, also downloadable here. For more information or to commence with an apprentice, contact the State office of ABBTF.
Group Training Organisations may pass on the benefits from the Federal Government.
