Shining Star from South West

abbtf-shining-star-allan_copyOn the back of recent world skills success in 2011, Sam Long a recently completed bricklaying apprentice from the ABN Group, has taken out the 2012 ABBTF/MBA Best Bricklaying Apprentice Award in the South West.

Sam initially came into the trade through work experience and has flourished ever since.

Currently Sam is also gearing up to compete at the national WorldSkills finals in Sydney later this year representing WA alongside Rhyse Moroney and Alan Ramsden.

Instrumental in Sam’s success are several people:  host trainer Colin Hazeldon (bricklayer contracting to Dale Alcock South West), Paul Mason (Dale Alcock South West Apprentice Manager) and Loris Moriconi (ABN Group Training Manager).

It’s great to see a young lad do so well in his trade, although I suspect he is yet to reach his full potential, which we may see in August this year at the WorldSkills competition”, said Colin (his host trainer).

ABBTF would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Ben Srilim for winning the 2012 ABBTF/Challenger TAFE Achievement in Bricklaying Award.  Well done Ben.
