Victorian apprentice bricklayers Brett Koochew and Takota Williams, along with trainer Colin Taggart, competed at the Concrete Masonry Association of Australia (CMAA) Golden Trowel Competition in Newcastle recently.
Brett and Takota performed very well in the highly competitive event over two days in building a challenging concrete masonry wall. Twelve teams comprising a Stage 2 and Stage 3 apprentice and a TAFE teacher, represented nine New South Wales TAFE colleges and a team from the Australian Capital Territory, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria.
The event was won by the team from North Coast TAFE, Coffs Harbour.
The Victorian team was from Holmesglen Institute.
We thank the bricklayers employing Brett and Takota for allowing the time to attend and Holmesglen Institute for their ongoing support for the Golden Trowel competition.
This is proudly an industry owned event and ABBTF are very pleased to be involved as the major sponsor.
