Damien Hazelgrove Wins Outstanding Apprentice Bricklayer Award

splash1Damien Hazelgrove has won the Outstanding Apprentice Bricklayer Award at the recent CITB Award luncheon at the Thoroughbred Park Function Centre at Lyneham last month.

Damien was a deserving winner having started his apprenticeship in 2013 when he converted from a labouring role with Swan Bricklaying.  Greg Swan saw the potential in Damien and convinced him to pursue a qualification in bricklaying through an apprenticeship.

Greg said Damien is a great worker and is very good in the detail areas of the trade achieving a quality result.  Most of Damien’s work is on small town houses using clay brick.

ACT Bricklayers! Up to $13,000 incentive to train a Bricklaying Apprentice

Bricklayer employers in the ACT benefit from up to $11,000 in Subsidies for taking on a bricklaying apprentice, or up to $13,000 for apprentices aged between 21 and 24 years at sign-up.  These incentives, provided by ABBTF, the Federal Government and the ACT Training Fund Authority, are available to not only assist you in taking on, but also retaining a bricklaying apprentice through the period of his Apprenticeship.  Below are details of the bricklayer employer incentives on offer in the ACT and supporting information on ABBTF’s portion of these subsidies is stated below and is available at the ABBTF website.

Currently, ABBTF has keen, good quality young people who are ready to start an apprenticeship.  Many have completed Step-Out Programs for school students or Work Ready Programs introducing them to the trade and therefore making them stronger candidates for consideration by you.

Shaun Campbell Wins Outstanding Apprentice Bricklayer Award

splash2Shaun Campbell has been awarded the CITC Outstanding Bricklaying Apprentice of the year for the ACT. Shaun is a talented young bricklayer who has shown great ability to learn the trade under the guidance of his employer, Greg Swan, of Swan Bricklaying.

Shaun completed his apprenticeship in February this year and is now 24 years old. He was working as a labourer for Greg and after two years decided to start an apprenticeship to get a qualification in bricklaying.
